What's New Around Aventura This Summer: The Neighborhood's Center of Gravity Is Shifting

For years, "going out in Aventura" meant one thing: you drove to the mall. Summer 2026 is quietly rewriting that habit. The openings landing between Biscayne Boulevard and the Intracoastal this season aren't just new logos on the marquee at Aventura Mall. They're spread across The Abbey, along 188th Street, and inside the towers themselves, and together they turn the neighborhood into something closer to a walkable everyday district than a shopping trip.

Here's what's actually open, what's coming, and how it changes a Saturday if you already live here.

The Abbey Has Become the Weekday Anchor

The single most consequential change to daily life in Aventura this year isn't happening inside the mall. It's happening across the street. The Abbey is a contemporary open-air district in the heart of Aventura, just steps from Aventura Mall, spanning over 219,000 square feet across multiple buildings, combining retail, dining, wellness, entertainment, and essential services in one modern setting.

The tenant mix is deliberately built around a full day, not a shopping errand. Start with an early workout at Anatomy, grab a healthy lunch at Sweetgreen, settle into an afternoon at Industrious, and ease into the evening with dinner at STK. That's a workout, a lunch, a coworking day, and a date night on a single block, without touching a mall corridor.

The most talked-about tenant right now is JARANA, the Peruvian and pisco bar concept anchoring the dining lineup. JARANA in Aventura, located at The Abbey at Aventura, is open for lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Sundays. If you've been driving to Wynwood or Brickell for a proper Peruvian tasting menu, that trip is now optional.

The Restaurant Openings Worth Rearranging Your Week For

Four new arrivals have hit the neighborhood in the past few months, and each of them plugs a specific gap in Aventura's dining map.

Crema Gourmet, Aventura. Crema Gourmet celebrated the grand opening of its Aventura location on April 8, 2026, welcoming guests to experience the café's all-day dining concept, marking the brand's continued expansion across South Florida. All-day dining is the operative phrase. It fills the awkward 3 p.m. slot when the mall food court feels wrong and dinner is still hours away.

Bulla Gastrobar. Bulla Gastrobar has officially arrived in Aventura, bringing the flavors of Spain to South Florida, and the newest location continues the legacy that began in Coral Gables, blending authenticity, bold flavor, and a communal atmosphere. The reason it matters for locals: Bulla runs lunch Monday through Friday, dinner, brunch, and a daily happy hour from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with paella, grilled octopus, jamón serrano, and shareable tapas on the menu. A walk-in-friendly happy hour with real tapas is a category Aventura has been thin on.

JARANA at The Abbey. Covered above, but worth noting for anyone planning group dinners: from intimate gatherings of 7 to 100+ guests, JARANA accommodates a wide range of celebrations including birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and corporate events, with partial venue buyout or more intimate settings available.

Kiddo. The neighborhood's homegrown smashburger has quietly become an export. Kiddo, which has an original location in Aventura, is opening in Wynwood. The Aventura outpost is still the source.

Eataly Is Running Real Classes, Not Just Selling Pasta

If you've walked past Eataly Aventura a hundred times without going in, this summer is the reason to change that. The Aventura location is running a hands-on class series that keeps landing on the local events calendars:

  • Wine & Cheese: Summer Edition on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 6:00 PM
  • Hands-On: Tiramisù on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 12:00 PM
  • Hands-On: Summer Cocktails, Restaurant Edition on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 6:00 PM

Pair those with Around the Table: Brunch Edition at North Italia Aventura on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 11:00 AM and you've got a full weekend of programming inside a fifteen-minute radius of home.

The Mall Isn't Standing Still

None of this means Aventura Mall is being eclipsed. If anything, the mall is doubling down on the parts of itself that a food court can't replicate. Aventura Mall was named Best Mall in the United States by USA Today's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards in 2026 for the second consecutive year.

Two things to watch this season:

Revolve is coming, and it's bringing Fwrd with it. Slated to open in 2026, the Aventura location marks a significant move for the online retailer, and the store will incorporate the brand's designer luxury division, Fwrd, into the space. The footprint tells you how seriously they're taking the market: the Aventura store will span 4,512 square feet, positioned between the larger Los Angeles outpost and the more intimate Aspen spot.

The luxury floor keeps deepening. CH Carolina Herrera is set to expand in 2026, and Celine will make its debut the same year.

And the reason people fly in to see it is still there in the atrium: the Aventura Mall Arts Collection includes Carsten Höller's Aventura Slide Tower, 93 feet of functioning sculpture generating destination traffic in its own right, alongside Gorillas in the Mist by The Haas Brothers and the LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana.

A Quick Map of Where Locals Are Actually Going This Summer

The old mental model of Aventura had the mall as the sun and everything else in orbit. The new one is more like two anchors with a bridge between them.

For this The answer used to be The answer this summer is
Weekday lunch out Mall food court Sweetgreen at The Abbey, Crema Gourmet, or Bulla's weekday lunch
A proper happy hour A hotel bar Bulla Gastrobar, 4 to 7 daily
Sunday brunch North Italia or the mall JARANA at The Abbey adds a Peruvian option
A hands-on date night Drive south Eataly Aventura's class series
A gift run Mall, always Mall for Celine and Revolve, Abbey for the rest
A cultural evening Drive to the Arsht Aventura Arts & Cultural Center

The Cultural Anchor That Doesn't Get Enough Credit

Fifteen years in, the neighborhood's own performing arts venue keeps getting overlooked in the Miami cultural conversation. The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is marking its 15th Anniversary of bringing entertainment to the City of Excellence. The venue sits at 3385 NE 188th Street, with a capacity of 330, which is the sweet spot for the kind of touring acts that would otherwise route past Aventura entirely. Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to the venue along NE 188th Street in front of the Aventura Community Recreation Center and the Aventura City of Excellence School.

For a resident, that's the difference between a night out and a night that requires a plan. No causeway, no valet queue at a downtown garage, walk-out-the-door parking.

What This Adds Up To If You Actually Live Here

Look at the map that summer 2026 draws:

  • A walkable open-air district with a full-day tenant mix at The Abbey
  • Four new dining anchors covering the gaps in the old lineup
  • A cooking class calendar you can build a weekend around
  • A mall that's still the retail center of gravity for Celine, Revolve, and the luxury floor
  • A cultural venue five minutes from the mall with real programming
  • Brightline access connecting South Florida from Miami to Orlando for anyone who wants to make the neighborhood their base and skip the drives north or south

For long-time residents, the practical takeaway is small but real: you can now build an entire Saturday inside Aventura without repeating a location or setting foot in a mall corridor. That wasn't true two summers ago.

For anyone in one of Aventura's towers weighing whether to renew, remodel, or move, the same shift matters in a different way. The daily-life density of the neighborhood has quietly caught up to the price per square foot. The mall is still the marquee, but the marquee is no longer doing all the work.
